Air New Zealand and Parrotdog take Kiwi craft to new heights

Air New Zealand has partnered with Wellington's Parrotdog Brewery to create Dash-hound – a one-of-a-kind NZIPA brewed for altitude and packed with Kiwi pride. Crafted with the brand-new NZH-109 hop from the Tasman region and designed specifically for enjoyment at 30,000 feet, Dash-hound is bold and balanced with tropical fruit notes and a relaxed bitterness.

Now available during Koru Hour flights on Air New Zealand's domestic network, the collaboration is the latest in the airline's mission to celebrate and showcase Kiwi artisanship at every altitude.

"We are always incredibly proud to partner with exceptional New Zealand brands," says Air New Zealand's Chief Customer and Digital Officer, Jeremy O'Brien.

"Parrotdog are masters of their craft and a true New Zealand success story. This partnership is about celebrating Kiwi made products – it's all about who we are, what we make, and how we share it with the world.

The name, Dash-hound, is a marrying of both brands. "Dash" references Air New Zealand's de Havilland Q300 Dash-8 aircraft, while "hound" echoes the cheeky spirit of Parrotdog's famous canine branding, a blend that captures Kiwi character in liquid form.

For Parrotdog, founded in 2011 by three friends all called Matt, the collaboration marks a significant milestone. From humble beginnings home-brewing in Wellington flats to becoming one of New Zealand's most loved independent breweries, their story is one of creativity and grit.

"Seeing our beer poured onboard Air New Zealand and served in lounges around the country is a dream we've had since Parrotdog began 15 years ago. We're thrilled to celebrate the shared spirit of two proudly New Zealand brands through this partnership," says Parrotdog Managing Director Paul Watson.

Together, Air New Zealand and Parrotdog are raising the bar for what it means to serve something truly local in the sky. Dash-hound isn't just a beer, it's a celebration of Kiwi craftsmanship and partnership, brewed for altitude and shared with the world.
